Final Race in the Stoke Summer Fun race series 2014

Telford entry into the Stoke Fun race was unusually all male with 7 racers representing Telford Ski Team,
Joshua Law, Charlie Deem, Matthew Williams, Ben Wakefield, Will Evans, Lewis Parton & Andrew Webb.

The event was set up with the usual 2 timed runs followed by 3 head to head races & as this was the final in the series a knockout team race was also held at the end.

Positions on the day as follows:-

Josh Law 2nd U12 Boys & 6th Overall on the day, Charlie Deem 1st U10 Boys, Matthew Williams 4th U10 Boys, Will Evans 4th U16 Boys, Ben Wakefield 2nd U8 Boys, Lewis Parton 3rd U8 Boys Andrew Webb 6th U10 Boys.

Well Done to all Telford Racers.

For those that entered more than 3 of the series race their Overall positions are as follows:-
Ben Wakefield 3rd, Lewis Parton 4th, Andrew Webb 4th, Joshua Law 3rd, Tom Harper 2nd.

Big well done to the dedicated!!.

Finally a mention for Josh Law & Matthew Willams team coming 2nd Overall in the Team knockout races, Well done guys that was thrilling to watch & Well done Josh Law as team captain perfect choice of running order!

BARSC Race Saturday 27.09.14

News just in Charlie Deem managed to secure a 3rd place finish at the BARSC race held on Saturday at Chill Factore Manchester despite tough competition , Well done Charlie,  Wish we had been their to see it.

Jordan Fellows skiing in the U18 men had a good day in the office being the fastest racer on the hill !.

The remainder of the crew representing Telford were Charlie Fellows , Ellinor Drummond & Isabel Drummond & Josh Law. Charlie F secured a 4th  & Ellie hard on her tail grabbed  5th place both in the under 12 girls. Izzy D grabbed 7th place in the U14 girls catagory. Josh Law after a hard fight finished in a respectable 4th place for the U12 boys.

Well done to all Telford racers !.

BARSC Team event

Today (28.9.14) saw 12 Telford skiers taking part in the BARSC team event at Manchester Chill Factore.  It was great to see more experienced racers supporting those who are relatively new to ski racing.  The atmosphere was brilliant with all juniors helping each other with free skiing, course inspection and general confidence building.  Today's race was a pro-slalom event which was a first for most of our juniors.  This was a double gated course (similar to the courses which we have now started doing after timings on a Wednesday) with a jump half way down.  With parents on the edge of their seats, all of our skiers delivered excellent, confident and solid runs in the morning, to obtain their individual fastest time for team seeding.  The team events produced some brilliant runs from all our juniors, but more importantly, all skiers (and parents) had loads of fun with lots of smiles from all.  Thank you to skiers for your fantastic team spirit: parents for organising travel arrangements and supporting our athletes and to all volunteers who made this event such a success.  Telford skiers were:  Christian Stevenson, Harriet Blythe, Grace Williams, Will Evans, Tom Harper, Chrissie Blythe, Issy Drummond, Ellie Jackson, Charley Fellows, Elle Drummond, Matt Williams, Andrew Webb.  Helen

British Artificial Championships 2014

As the summer race calendar starts to draw to an end, Telford Ski Club headed to Pontypool today, for the British Artificial Championships.  Represented by Grace, Ellie and Matt, the day delivered some interesting challenges for all racers, on two extremely different and difficult courses!  After a high number of DSQs, DNFs, wipe outs (including only 50% of forerunners completing the second course), Ellie and Grace both skied into silver position for their respective age groups.  Matt achieved an admiral 5th position in the U12 boys category.  Charlie Deem, who skied at Pontypool yesterday in the Welsh Championships, also achieved 5th in the highly contested U10 boys category.

Stoke Fun Race Series - Race 3

The third race of the 2014 series took place 6.9.14.  As ever, it was a great day with the dual slaloms seeing some fantastic competition between skiers with similar times.  Podiums for Ben Wakefield (2nd U8 male):  Lewis Parton (3rd U8 male):  Charlie Deem (1st U10 male):  Ellie Jackson (1st U12 female), fastest girl on the day:  Josh Law (2nd U12 boy) and Tom Harper (3rd U14 male).  Andrew Webb narrowly missed out on 3rd place, skiing brilliantly in the head to head races, winning two of his three events. 

The final race takes place in October.  These races are well run and perfect for younger or newer racers.   With a "wooden balance course" available  free of charge, there is plenty to keep younger skiers entertained.  It would be great to see more racers representing our club at the last race, so please let me know if you would like more information.  Helen
