Stoke fun race 9.5.15
The second event of the fun race series took place on Saturday. Approximately 70 racers took part, with Telford Ski Club represented by the following:-
U8s: Lewis Parton, Shayne Dawson-Dymond and Finlay Broomhall.
U10s: Sophie Broomhall, Sonny Rushworth and Tuesday Rushworth
U12s: Josh Law and Andrew Webb
U14s: Ed Guy
U19s: Christian Stevenson
Some great results for all our racers, with podiums for Lewis (1st), Josh (1st), Ed (3rd), Christian (1st).
Mixed weather created some interesting skiing conditions - heavy rain, windy and some sunny spells .. some racers ending up rather wet after close encounters with puddles on the slope!

Indoor GBR races at Manchester
Two GBR events took place at Manchester indoor slope, this weekend. Charlie Deem and Ellie Jackson represented Telford on Saturday. Charlie skied well in a very strong and competitive U12 male age group. Ellie had a superb first run, achieving 2nd place but unfortunately, on the second run, left one of her skis in the start gate, so lost all her advantage. Iona Brickley joined Ellie and Charlie on Sunday, and all three juniors produced two solid and fast runs. Safe in the knowledge that her bindings had now been ramped up, Ellie produced probably her best skiing on indoor snow to date, and secured second place in the highly contested U14 female category. Full results will be available shortly on the Britski website at www.britski.org We would love to see more of our skiers taking part in the many different race opportunities, so please speak to one of your committee members to find out more about what's available. Kind regards Helen

May Bank Holiday weekend racing at Gloucester
A trio of races
took place over the weekend. These are
extremely well attended and highly competitive events with skiers travelling
from all over the UK to test their skills against each other… 160 racers on Sunday
alone. Gloucester
always provides a number of challenges due to the length and undulating nature
of the slope. This weekend was no
different and provided plenty of DSQs and DNFs on some extremely interesting
and exciting courses.
U14s: Ellie Jackson (4th Gloucester CN: 3rd GBR)
Likewise, Telford parents encountered a new challenge, namely the
new gazebo. Opening up the lovely new
package, in gales and rain on Sunday … we were pleased to see the instructions
advised “easy to set up, with only two adults”!!!!! So 40 minutes later, 5 adults and 3 children,
eventually succeeded in securing a gazebo to shelter from the elements …
needless to say, the sun then came out and it stopped raining!!!!
The following
skiers represented Telford Ski Club on some, or all days. All our skiers raced fast and focussed, many
achieving 4th positions with only milliseconds depriving them of a
well deserved podium:-
U10s: Lewis Parton (4th Gloucester CN)
and Iona Brickley (4th GBR)
U12s: Charlie
Deem (6th SSW Champery Slalom; 5th Gloucester CN: 6th
GBR)U14s: Ellie Jackson (4th Gloucester CN: 3rd GBR)

The summer race
calendar is now well underway. It really
would be great to see more of our skiers at these events. If you would like further information about registering
with SnowSport England, or about the many different race opportunities, please
speak to one of your committee members.
Kind regards
Helen
