May Bank Holiday weekend racing at Gloucester

A trio of races took place over the weekend.  These are extremely well attended and highly competitive events with skiers travelling from all over the UK to test their skills against each other… 160 racers on Sunday alone.  Gloucester always provides a number of challenges due to the length and undulating nature of the slope.  This weekend was no different and provided plenty of DSQs and DNFs on some extremely interesting and exciting courses.

Likewise, Telford parents encountered a new challenge, namely the new gazebo.  Opening up the lovely new package, in gales and rain on Sunday … we were pleased to see the instructions advised “easy to set up, with only two adults”!!!!!  So 40 minutes later, 5 adults and 3 children, eventually succeeded in securing a gazebo to shelter from the elements … needless to say, the sun then came out and it stopped raining!!!!

The following skiers represented Telford Ski Club on some, or all days.  All our skiers raced fast and focussed, many achieving 4th positions with only milliseconds depriving them of a well deserved podium:-

U10s:  Lewis Parton (4th Gloucester CN) and Iona Brickley (4th GBR)
U12s: Charlie Deem (6th SSW Champery Slalom; 5th Gloucester CN: 6th GBR)
U14s:  Ellie Jackson (4th Gloucester CN: 3rd GBR)

Full results can be found at http://www.britski.org/

The summer race calendar is now well underway.  It really would be great to see more of our skiers at these events.  If you would like further information about registering with SnowSport England, or about the many different race opportunities, please speak to one of your committee members.

Kind regards

Helen
